Starting BIG SCHOOL can be a very difficult transition for all children. Our Year 3 classes are designed to keep students moving forward with their learning while helping them understand the basics of early education in a fun environment.

We focus on small activities that connect to regular reading for pleasure and establishing robust maths skills to help take the fear out of BIG SCHOOL learning.

We focus on cementing the basics and taking the boredom and fear out of learning. Year 4 is a very transformative year for students' big brains and we know the reading and learning habits we promote will reap benefits right through their education journey. We place a big focus on getting into the habit of reading for pleasure, discussing why we study and doing bitesize bits of homework each day.

Students are given one homework pack to complete each week. This is a blend of maths, verbal reasoning and comprehension. It is collected and marked weekly by teachers to give the best possible personalised feedback.

Our classes aim to make studying for the 11+ as engaging and substantial as possible. Each class covers maths, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning (pattern recognition).

Students are provided with one homework pack per week. This is collected and marked by our teachers by hand to help us get to know students and chart their progress in the most efficient and personal way possible.

Year 5 students are also able to access a free account with Study Time Online, our online provision full of extra tasks, explanation videos with Mr Joe (they won't be able to keep a straight face!) and online tests.

Our regular 11+ classes are suitable for the Upton Hall Exam.

Our regular 11+ classes are suitable for the St Anselm's exam. The St Anselm's exam also contains a creative writing task. We put on special classes for this during the summer holidays. The best preparation throughout the rest of the year is regularly reading for pleasure.
